St. Eustatius/Saba - Scheduled traffic check on St. Eustatius - A scheduled traffic check was held on Saturday, the 13th of May, at about 6:30 p.m. on the Van Tonningenweg on Sint Eustatius. During the traffic check the following documents were inspected; a valid driver's licenses, valid insurance documents and tax documents.

A total of nine (9) vehicles were stopped and checked. Two drivers were given the opportunity to go home and get their driver's licenses, which resulted to be in order. Otherwise, all drivers had their documents in order and no one was fined. The KPCN wants to urge all drivers to always carry their required documents with them on the road to avoid fines during traffic checks.

Arrest on Saba
On Friday, the 12th of May, a man was arrested on Samuel A. Charles Street on Saba in the late afternoon hours. The suspect was engaged in an altercation with a group of men present there. Upon the patrol's arrival, the suspect began scolding and insulting the police. After several demands to stop this and leave the location, the 30-year-old suspect with initials I.D.R. was pepper sprayed and arrested for threatening and insulting officers in office, failure to comply with police demands and violation of the BES Arms Act.
