Multidisciplinary inspections on Saba and St. Eustatius

Oranjestad / The Bottom - In recent weeks, several multidisciplinary inspections were held in the ports of Saba and St. Eustatius. All arriving passengers, the luggage and the crew of the Makana Ferry were checked. The ferry was also checked.

Police report of Monday June 3rd until Monday June 10th 2024

Oranjestad - Lifeless body found - On Saturday, the 8th of June, around 8:30 AM, the central control room received a report of an unresponsive person at a business on Korthals road in St. Eustatius. When the patrol arrived, ambulance personnel performed CPR on the victim. A little later, the ambulance personnel stopped CPR. The coroner noted the death of a 46-year-old woman with initials N.A.B. born on the 23rd of February, 1978 in Jamaica. The lifeless body was seized for further investigation. The preliminary examination revealed that there were no indications of a crime.

Police report of Friday, the 31st of May until Monday, the 3th of June 2024

The Bottom/Oranjestad - Scheduled alcohol check - During the afternoon hours of Saturday, June 1st, the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) conducted a scheduled alcohol check on the E.A. Johnson Road in Saba. During these checks, fifteen (15) drivers were checked for their alcohol consumption with a breathalyzer test. This test indicates whether the person has consumed more than the permitted amount of alcohol to operate a motor vehicle. The purpose of the alcohol check was to make Saba citizens aware of the consequences of driving under the influence of alcohol.

Oranjestad - Stolen scooter found - On Monday, the 27th of May, the theft of a Yamaha brand scooter, type MIO 125, with license plate M-80 was reported. The scooter was parked in the yard of a residence on the Vincent A. Lopes Road on St. Eustatius. Between 8:30 PM and 9 PM on Monday, the 27th of May, unknown persons took the scooter.

Three KPCN employees arrested in criminal investigation

Kralendijk - In a criminal investigation conducted by the National Criminal Investigation Department into a violent incident, three employees of the Dutch Caribbean Police Force (KPCN) were arrested today, Monday, the 13th of May. They are suspected of assault and forgery/perjury.

Oranjestad - Arrest assault with a weapon - On Monday, the 6th of May, around 11 AM, a 40-year-old man with initials T.L.R. was arrested at Father Van Tevelenweg on St. Eustatius for menacing and assault with a weapon.

The Bottom - Arrest assault with a weapon - On Tuesday, the 30th of April, around 6:15 AM, a 31-year-old man with initials I.D.R. was arrested on Captain Mathew Levenstone Street on Saba for assault with a weapon. The suspect was involved in a brawl during the overnight hours of Saturday, the 27th of April. Investigations in the case are ongoing.

Oranjestad - Theft of scooter - On Friday, April 26th, a theft of a black and mint green colored Yamaha brand scooter, type Mio, with license plate M-31, was reported. The scooter was parked with a steering lock on, in the yard of a residence on the Newton Pasture road on St. Eustatius. Between 02:00 AM and 07:00 AM on Friday, April 26th, unknown persons took the scooter. The case is under investigation.

Oranjestad - Residential burglary - On Saturday, the 20th of April, the police received a report of burglary at a residence on the Phillips Road in St. Eustatius. Unknown persons took several tools during the period of Thursday, January 25th , around 6:00 PM and Saturday, April 20th , 2024, around 8:30 AM The case is under investigation.

Oranjestad - Assault arrest - On Friday, April 12th , around 7:10 AM, the central control room received a report of a fight on the Carl G. Buncamper Road on Sint Eustatius. As a result, a 22-year-old man with initials J.A.T. was arrested for assault. This was due to a serious altercation that got out of hand. Investigation into the case is ongoing.

Police report of Monday, the 25th of March until Wednesday, the 3th of April 2024

The Bottom - Collision Fortbay Road SABA - During the overnight hours on Monday, April 1st, a one-sided scooter collision occurred on Fortbay Road on Saba. Due to reasons still unknown, the driver and two passengers (including a minor) fell off the scooter, and were injured as a result. They were taken with a personal car to the hospital for medical treatment. Later that same day, two of the three victims had to be flown to St. Maarten for further medical treatment.

Oranjestad - Planned traffic control - On Friday, March 8th , between 8:30 PM and 10:00 PM, several vehicles were stopped for a traffic control on St. Eustatius, including in Oranje Bay. During the inspection, 13 cars were checked and 4 fines were issued.

Oranjestad - Collision - On Thursday, March 7th , around 12:20 AM, the central control room received a report of a one-sided collision at the DR H.A. Korthalsweg on St. Eustatius. A car crashed into a wall and then ended up in a garden. Here he broke a tree in two and also hit some cables. The vehicle came to a stop on its left side against a building.

Oranjestad - Arrest - On Thursday, February 8th , a 26-year-old man with initials A.M.H. and a 27-year-old man with initials W.H., were arrested on the Kerkweg on Sint Eustatius for attempted manslaughter and violation of the BES Weapons Act.

Oranjestad - Officers intervene in brawl - During the nightly hours of today, Sunday February 3rd, a fight broke out between a number of people in an establishment on St. Eustatius. Two KPCN officers who were there in their free time tried to stop the fight but were attacked. As a result, the officers had to use physical force to defend themselves.

Oranjestad - Dog attacks child - On Tuesday, 23rd of January, at around 6:45 PM, the central control room received notice that a child had been bitten by a dog at a residence on St. Eustatius. At that time, the child had already been taken to the hospital for medical treatment and had three deep bite wounds on the back of his leg.

The Bottom - In the night hours of New Year's Day, an incident took place in a hospitality establishment on Saba in which a KPCN police officer drew his service weapon. In addition to earlier reports, the KPCN management reports that in addition to an internal investigation by the Internal Affairs Bureau of the KPCN, a criminal investigation has now been initiated into the conduct of this police officer. This investigation is being conducted by the National Investigation Department.

Oranjestad - Hit And Run - On Thursday, the 11th of January, at around 11 AM, a Hit and Run took place near a supermarket on Fort Street on St. Eustatius. A car hit the left arm of a pedestrian standing next to the road, with its right mirror and then drove on.
