Police report of Monday, January 6th until Monday, January 13th 2025
Oranjestad/The Bottom - Driving under the influence arrest - On Friday, the 10th of January, around 6 PM a 35-year-old woman with initials A.C.G. arrested on the Upper Road on Saba for driving under the influence of alcohol. The suspect crashed a service vehicle into a parked pickup on the said street. In accordance with the 'botsen is blazen’ policy, a breath test was administered to the driver. The officers explained to the suspect several times how to blow on the device, but she always failed to do so correctly. She was arrested and taken to the police station for a breath test. As a result of this, the suspect's driver's license was confiscated.

Traffic control
On Friday, the 10th of January, several vehicles were stopped for a traffic control on St. Eustatius. During the inspection, 21 vehicles were checked and 7 fines were issued.
These were as follows:
1x for driving without paid road tax;
1x for driving without a seat belt on;
1x for driving without a license plate;
1x for driving with defective lights;
1x for driving with a child in hand behind the steering wheel;
1x for driving without a valid driver's license;
1x for driving without valid proof of insurance.
The KPCN will continue to carry out checks at various locations on the island and warns everyone who participates in traffic to have the necessary documents in order. The police will continue to carry out these types of checks to ensure the safety of all road users. In addition, you are urgently requested to adhere to the traffic rules, so that together we can contribute to safe traffic on the island.
Scheduled traffic check
On Wednesday, the 8th of January, a scheduled traffic check was held on the Samuel A. Charles Street in Saba. In the process, 6 vehicles were stopped for a check. During the check, several children on a school bus were addressed by the officers for their behavior on the bus. All of the drivers' documents were in order. One driver received a warning for driving without a seat belt.
